Made in USA Review: Ethix Merch

A “merchant adventurer” from the company Ethix Merch recently visited my blog and offered to send an me an American-made onesie for my son. One of the most difficult things about my challenge to find goods made in the USA has been defining what ethical consumerism really is. From my experiences thus far, I’ve found that several variables, including country of origin, enter the equation. Ethix Merch seem to have covered it all. They offer custom-made merchandise for organizations made in the USA by union workers that are sweatshop-free, fairly traded and eco-friendly.

The onesie arrived with a catalog of the company’s available merchandise, which includes everything from custom-printed clothing, hats, and bags, to promotional items like pens, mugs, and keychains. I was impressed by the mere fact that their onesie is offered in sizes up to 24 months! As the mother of a clever toddler who loves to remove his diaper, I have a special affection for the onesie.

Not only did the 18-24 month sizes onesie fit my son, but there is some room to grow! The onesie is made of the softest organic cotton. In a dye-free natural color with “Sweatfree Baby” printed across the chest, the onesie is light and comfortable. I appreciate having the opportunity to dress my baby is clothing that reflects my ethical values, is safe and comfortable, and is impossible for him to remove!

The products a company chooses for promoting their brand says a lot about their organization’s philosophy. Your brand will stick out more if it’s on something useful and ethically made than a message on a cheap plastic hand clapper made in China. Check them out at http://ethixmerch.com/

Disclosure: I received the onesie free of charge from Ethix Merch. I was offered this item as a promotion only and no review or endorsement was required or expected.

I know – nobody makes onesies for the 18 month + crowd and those are the kiddos who have learned how to remove their diapers themselves, LOL!!!

what a terrific idea for a blog. Seriously: genius!

I would totally be more inclined to choose only American-made… if I knew ahead of time where to find such items.

Thanks for the inspiration. (and by the way, your son is soooo adorable!)

Love the concept of this blog. I am really interested in finding American made products and have been following the series on ABC’s World news tonight. My 4 1/2 year old son has also been watching along and now asks where things are made, which I think is kind of funny.

What a smart little kiddo you have! I haven’t seen the ABC series but I’ve heard a lot about it. I’m a little skeptical about it. What was your impression? I heard they got rid of everything in a family’s house that wasn’t made in America, which is about the most “ungreen” thing you can do.

Cute! I must say, it’s great to see a site like yours on the internet. I have a godmother who buys only American made things and goes through great lengths to make sure that they were also union made. It’s getting harder and harder to find these things in today’s society, but with sites like yours it makes finding them easier. Thanks for sharing!

Great blog! I feel like so many more people would support USA made products (and ethical consumerism) if there was more education and readily available information. Your little one is such a cutie!

What an amazing company, thanks for featuring it. They must be doing something right because your son looks so happy and adorable in his onesie! As a 25 year old female, I too am a fan of the onesie. Is that wrong?

I really love that it says, “Sweatfree Baby.” He definitely looks happy with it and it’s really great when companies reach out to you and send you something to try out. I just wished when babies are that little that they can stay that way forever!
