The following is a review by David of the California Wine Club, a service featuring local wines from small “Mom and Pop” wineries in California.
The California Wine Club discovers California’s best artisan wineries and sends selected bottles to your door. When I shop for wine, I’m overwhelmed by choice, and end up selecting wine based on how well designed the label is. Inevitably I end up buying a bottle I’m not happy with. Which is why I really enjoyed a shipment from The California Wine Club. With over twenty years in business and twenty full time employees, the Club takes care to send only delicious selections.
Another great thing about the Club is the accompanying twelve page newsletter, which tells the story behind the wine you’ve received. The wine we received had an inspiring American story, about a sixteen year old immigrant working in the fields who now farms over four hundred and fifty acres of his own winery. It was a great story to share while sipping with Sarah.
Which brings me to my final point. The wine from The California Wine Club is of a different caliber than any other wine I normally drink. The Club selects wines from small, working wineries all over California, not bulk, closeout, or private label wines. Even I, a wine drinker but hardly a wine enthusiast, could taste the marked difference from the normal twelve dollar bottle I buy. We savored both bottles, red and white, but if you prefer you can receive only one or the other. Shipped monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly, the Club makes a great gift or holiday treat for yourself.
Want to sample some win yourself? The California Wine Company is holding a giveaway on their site. There you can enter to win gifts including a three month wine club membership for yourself or to send as a gift for the wine lover on your Holiday list.
This review was made possible by Mom Spark Media. Thoughts are my own. I received a 2 month Membership to the California Wine Club for the purpose of this review.
