Review and Giveaway: Loggerhead Apparel

The pride you have for your home state and town is a feeling that is rooted in your being. My love for the Keystone state is no secret, I will always have a friend in Penn! The same is true of the two South Carolinian natives behind Loggerhead Apparel. They turned their home state pride into a passion for conservation. Two things in their area were on the brink of extinction, the textile industry and the Loggerhead sea turtle.

Loggerhead Apparel is a product of the founder’s passion to retain these two important parts of South Carolina’s culture. Their clothing is entirely manufactured in the USA, from the American-grown Pima Cotton they use to the garment design and manufacturing. Ten percent of sales of their products help support conservation efforts for the Loggerhead. They are as dedicated to local wildlife as they are to the local economy, spear-heading the revival of the the textile industry of the Southeastern US.

“bell•weth•er noun: item or thing that assumes the leadership or forefront, as of a profession or an industry; a trailblazer or pacesetter.”

Their signature piece is the Bellwether Polo, a custom designed shirt made of 100% cotton. I received a polo in the adorable Sweetgrass Green color. The shirt is a high-quality fabric adorned with the cute Loggerhead turtle logo. The polo has a more relaxed fit which is classy and comfy. If you are looking for more of a fitted/junior look, you might want to choose a size smaller. The polo is available for women and men in a variety of bold and preppy hues. The shirt is a bit pricey at $68. If you are balking at this figure consider this: the classic Ralph Lauren Polos are $85 and are made in the Philippines. What do they support?

(Please excuse my bad phone self-portrait!)

A purchase of a Loggerhead polo is a gift that gives back, to the environment and the economy. And for a well-crafted stylish shirt, it’s a score for anyone’s wardrobe. One lucky reader will be getting a polo of their own thanks to Loggerhead Apparel! Use the Rafflecopter form below to enter. To enter, leave a comment letting us know what state you call home and something about it that gives you pride. The other entries are optional, giving you additional chances to win. Good luck!

Although I was not born here, I have lived in Tucson, AZ for over a decade & love it here! One of the most unique things we have here is the saguaro cactus. The saguaro is the cactus with the “arms” that is drawn in pretty much every cartoon about the desert ever, but in reality, the only places in the US it exists are in Southern Arizona & a very tiny part of Southern California. It is NOT found in New Mexico or Texas, & even up in the Northern half of Arizona you will not see it.

I’m from Michigan. I’m super proud of our lakes and I’m from Metro Detroit so I’m super proud of Detroit. People think that’s crazy because of it’s reputation but the city is just so beautiful and incredible. I love living 5 minutes from it!

We live in Idaho. Sure, the Idaho Potato Commission has done a terrific job of promoting potatoes, but, there is much more to our state. The great outdoors is wonderful here. Whether you’re into biking, hiking, rafting, skiing or a myriad of other outdoor sports, you’ll find it here.
