There is an American handmade revolution happening in our country, fueled by passionate leaders working to promote the thriving community of handmade goods. One organization behind the movement is aftcra, a community dedicated to bringing large-scale exposure to small, independent artists and crafters. Through their new e-commerce marketplace, aftcra connects consumers directly with American artisans in a unique venue created specifically to support American craftsmanship.

aftcra was conceived in 2010 in Milwakee, WI and launched into beta in late 2012 to support local artisans. Using an anagram for “a craft” (rearrange the letters for a quick brain puzzle), the organization is focused on supporting the skilled work of American hands. Their marketplace allows consumers to discover handcrafted, American-made goods and purchase them directly from the seller. After completing a brief profile you can search for sellers local to your hometown, or simply browse the listings by category or theme. They feature a growing list of a few dozen artisans offering apparel, accessories, products for kids, paper goods, art and gifts. Check out some of the handcrafted, made in USA goods available on aftcra.

They are open for business, both for shopping and for artisans looking to sell on their shop.
